Toptech Systems’ latest TMS 7 and Tophat 7 release includes several improvements

Today, terminal owners and operators are under increased pressure to increase efficiency and productivity across their business, and Toptech is responding to these needs. Recently, Toptech Systems released an update to TMS7 and Tophat 7 that includes improvements to the user interface, loading operations and inventory management.
Here’s a quick rundown on the update.
User Interface Improvements
- Submit orders with a single button-click – This improvement came from our voice-of-the customer (VOC) feedback. Now, users can create and submit the order with just a single button-click.
- Drag & Drop management for tank product certificates – In the past, users would need to mount a file system to transmit the files in TMS. Now, they can simply drag and drop the certificates directly into the system. This reduces the complexity of the system.
- Improved dropdowns for product selection – This feature speeds up operations by simplifying the decision-making process. Instead of an operator needing to select from several product codes, dropdowns allow operators to choose from the most common base products. This not only speeds up the process and reduces errors, but it’s also a lot easier to use.
Loading operations improvements
- Accelerated loading time for vehicles with smaller compartments – In the past, smaller vehicles would have to wait through the low-flow cycle for the high-flow to kick in. Now, the low flow is based on the relative size of the vehicle’s compartment, speeding up load time. If a terminal services more vehicles with smaller compartments, this can save considerable time at your loading bays. Initially developed as a custom module, this feature is now available for all customers.
- Reduced driver touchpoints – It’s now easier and faster for a driver to select the desired product from a long list of available ones, because the listing is pre-filtered and cross-checked against valid Contracts. This saves time and reduces the likelihood of a driver selecting an invalid product.
- Keeping your load racks up - Previously, load racks needed to be brought down before changing the active tank on a product. Now, the active tank changes automatically, without having to shut down the entire load rack. This helps keep the terminal running and minimize downtime.
Inventory Management/Loss prevention
- Temperature and gravity reporting - TMS7 now records temperature and gravity changes for tank products and gauge records, which can be used for NIST auditing.
- Automatic Host-connection recovery - On the maintenance support side, TMS7 has improved its host communication capabilities to automatically recover if there is a communication error. In the past, if there was a communication error, the operator would have to hunt through the logs to see what didn’t send, then manually requeue that transaction. But now, the system automatically detects the communication error, automatically recovers and requeues that BOL, sending the transaction back to the external host without a need for any intervention.
